What are the differences between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0?

What are the differences between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0?

If you use a computer, laptop or mobile, it may not be that you have not heard the word USB, USB has made our life very easy whether transferring data or connecting with any hardware computer Whether it is to connect the mobile phone to the charger, USB is being used everywhere, just as USB has made changes in our lives, similarly after the success of version 2.0 of USB, version 3.0 has arrived, here we are going to know. If you are also interested about USB 2.0 and 3.0, then read this article completely.

First of all, know what is USB

USB's are Full Form Universal Serial Bus which is being used as Industry Standard where USB is used for most data transfer. Today USB is currently being used with every hardware device like Pandrive, Hard Disk Drive, Keyboard, Mouse, and Mobile Charging Port etc. There are many advantages of USB, out of which two main advantages are the physical structure of USB and the data transfer speed, you can use USB anytime anywhere.

Now know where it came from and who thought

USB was conceived in 1996 named as USB 1.X with a data transfer speed of 1.5 Mbps followed by USB 1.1 released in 1998. USB 1.1 was designed by Microsoft followed by USB 2.0 in the year 2000. Launched, it was co-created by Intel and other companies with a maximum data transfer speed of 480 Mbps, which was much higher than USB 1.1, this USB 2.0 became more popular due to its data transfer speed and was mostly used in devices In the same sequence, USB 3.0 was launched in the year 2008, with a maximum data transfer speed of 5Gbps USB 3.0 has also been named Super Speed.

How does USB WORK?

USB uses four wire cable interfaces, two wires are used to send data or receive data, and the other two are used for power supply, USB 2.0 cable length up to a maximum of 5 meters there are four data transfer modes for USB, control transfer is to configure the device and read the status information.

1- Bulk Transfer Mode

It is used to deliver massive amounts of data and implement three steps -

1.           Token packet

2.           Data packet

3.           Handshake packet

2- Data Bulk Transfer

Hardware Transfer Detection is used to find the error in this transfer process between the Host and the End Point Device.

3- Isochronous Transfer Mode

This mode is used to transfer data in real time, it is used to send audio and video data at a constant rate in real time.

4 - Interrupt Transfer Mode

This mode involves the first three steps and data transfer is done. This transfer mode is used to use devices like Mouse, Keyboard.

What are the differences between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0?

1.   Physical Structure - There is no difference in the Physical Structure of USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. Black blog is inside the USB port of both the devices.

2.   Date Transfer Rate - While the data transfer speed of USB 2.0 is 480 Mbps, the data transfer speed of USB 3.0 is 4800 Mbps which is almost 10 times more than the speed of USB 2.0.

3.   Types of Communication - USB 2.0 communication is One Way means you can transfer data from Host to End Point, on the other hand USB 3.0 communication is Two Way.

4.   Power Consumption - On one hand, while USB 2.0 is cheaper in terms of Power Consumption which is 500mA, on the other hand, Power Consumption of USB 3.0 is 900mA.

5.   Number of Wires - If we talk about wires, the number of wires in USB 2.0 is 4, on the other hand, the number of wires in USB 3.0 is 9.

6.   Length of Cable - If you talk about the length of cable, the length of cable in USB 2.0 is 5 meters, the same if talking in USB 3.0, it is 3 meters.

7.   Standard A Connector Color - If we talk about Standard Connector Color then the color of USB 2.0 is gray and if we talk about USB 3.0 it is blue.

8.   Standard B Connector - Standard B Connector is smaller in USB 2.0, same size in USB 3.0.

9.   Signal Mechanism - USB 2.0 has Polling Mechanism; same USB 3.0 has Asynchronous Mechanism.

10. Cost - If you talk about the price, then the price of USB 3.0 is more than USB 2.0.

Conclusions

Hope you have understood what USB what is the history of USB and what are the differences between USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, apart from how USB works, if you liked this article then you should give it to your friends. Definitely share and comment us if you have any dilemma in your mind.
